It's Not Like I Have The Excuse Of Being Drunk...

I've got a cake for you...

Well, since my lovely online friends live too far away to offer them real cake, I can only give you the recipe.

My mother swears by her glassware baking pan for this cake, but warns to put it on a stack of towels when taking out of the oven and otherwise avoid abrupt temperature changes. The dough also goes really well with a variety of fruit, like fresh pluims in late summer of canned peaches in winter. Just try some versions and find your own favourite. :o)

This one has some lovely goth/horror themed papercrafts. Just download the pdf, print, cut and glue. I love the coffins and the haunted graveyard.

We all know hats and hoods with kitty ears, but they are mostly made from polarfleece or sweatshirt fabric. This is a knitting pattern for a hat with earflaps to keep you cute and warm. Nice pagebackground, too. :o)

And I just remembered, I never posted that craft-meme thing from Karen. *makes note to self*

Live is good.

Slight update about me

Hi my lovelies!

My computer has been sent to Acer because it seems to need a new graphics card. Should be back with me in another two weeks. Missing all of you! :o(

However I did start a Finnish class last week, which is a nice distraction from being offline and computerless.

Hugs from
Shahar

Offline until further notice...

I've been having computer problems lately and won't be online for a while. The last two weeks I mostly tried to copy all my data onto an external harddrive and now the 'puter is going to the repairshop.

Since I have no idea when I can get online again, I have to say bye for now to my LJ friends. *waves*

The shoes I never wear - cuetsy home edition

Here are some house shoes I bought or got as a present and rarely use.

Meet Left Bear and Right Bear, on a mission to keep their owners feet toasty warm. At my last place, it was always a bit chilly, in part because of the stone floor. Since I didn't want to always put my feet up on the sofa or snuggle into bed, I got the warmest, silliest houseshoes with the thickest soles I could find.

Lookie what I found today:

See? All there. Fluffy slippers to keep your toes warm from August to May, because frostbite is so last year. Eyemask to get a good days sleep after playing and partying hard all night. It's also useful around midsummer. And a hot water bottle cover for those rare times when all the groupies are gone and you don't want to explain a plushie to the other guys on the tourbus. Now you just need some big hangover shades and you're all set.

I saw the set on sale and couldn't resist. Apparently others thought the same, because an hour later the other five or six boxes were gone as well.

You didn't really think those were the only underused pieces of footwear in my closet, did you? I'm a girl, of course I have more.

BBC Book Meme

I saw this yesterday at [info]inside_the_veils and thought it would be easy to get an impressively high count. Turns out, the person who assembled the list and I have very different reading tastes. Only about a third of these books can spark my interest. I found the list a bit anglocentric and think it leaves out quite a few other pieces of "world literature". More on that at the end this post.

BBC believes most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here. How do your reading habits stack up?

No tagging, I leave it up to you, if you are willing to spare precious time that could be spent, you know, reading. ;o)

Shoes I never wear...
art
[info]shahar_amar
...and the reasons why.

A girl can never have enough shoes (or dresses or purses or...). Yet somehow I only ever wear the same few pairs and thought it might be fun to look at the all the other ones. And maybe some of my f-list *cough*[info]xspitefulangelx*cough* would like to see as well. Sadly my camera battery went on strike after three pictures, so I will have to finish this at a later point.

These don't just look 80s, they are original. Bought at a fleamarket in the early 90s, but they still fit. Unfortunately the slim heels and thin soles make them not all that comfortable to wear, but now that they are back it style, I should give it another go.

Hello Internet! *waves*

I totally forgot yesterday to tell you about these cool statues in Hamburg. They are a bit like my distant relatives, the United Buddy Bears, but watercarriers modeled after a local figure.

What I've been up to - crafting
[info]shahar_amar
Lately I got a lot of knitting done. The phonesocks deserve their own post, but I also made a protective cozy for my camera. It was knit in a special technique, where you work on two layers at once. That makes it actually quite thick and keeps the camera safe.

Two lists

I've seen these before in various journals, but every time I read them, I have shivers running down my back. So I thought, it couldn't hurt to put them here as well.
